Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something useful you could do with all those tea bags, rather than just throwing them out? Well, the good news is that there are actually plenty of ways to put all those tea bags to good use! And today I’ll be sharing 24 of the most surprising and useful things you can do with used tea bags. 1Cool sunburned skin What can you do when you forget to use sunscreen and have to pay the price with a painful burn? A few wet tea bags applied to the affected skin will take out the sting. This works well for other types of minor burns (i.e., from a teapot or steam iron) too. If the sunburn is too widespread to treat this way, put some tea bags in your bathwater and soak your whole body in the tub. 2. Dissolve Greasy Messes Have a greasy, stuck-on mess stuck in the bottom of a pan? Place a tea bag in the pan and fill it with hot water. Allow it to soak overnight, and the tannins in the tea will help loosen the mess overnight. It’ll be easy to scrub clean in the morning! 3. Antioxidant Bath Because tea leaves contain antioxidants, bathing in warm water steeped with pre-brewed tea bags is great for your skin. Either hang the used bags over the faucet and let the water run through them as you fill your bath, or drop the bags directly into the water to create a nourishing tea bath. As an added bonus, use fragrant tea like Jasmine for an aromatherapy experience or try pre-brewed Chamomile tea to relax your whole body while you bathe. 4. Homemade Glass Cleaner Re-brew used tea bags and spray the weak tea onto windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces to loosen up dirt, grime, fingerprints, and other gunk. Be sure to wipe away with a clean, lint-free cloth to minimize streaks and dust particles. 5. Make canker sores feel better. Chill a used tea bag in the freezer. Try wetting a tea bag and placing it over the site of the injection. Hold it gently in place until the crying stops. The tannic acid in the tea will soothe the soreness. You can treat warts if they bother you, keep coming back or are painful. A pharmacist can help with warts You can buy creams, plasters and sprays from pharmacies to get rid of warts and verrucas. These treatments can take up to 3 months to complete, may irritate your skin and don't always work. So what natural remedy am I recommending? The all powerful Oregano Oil. Oregano oil is a strong essential oil with antibiotic, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties- and it works great for getting rid of warts naturally- without all those chemicals that are in most over the counter products. Here’s what you need: 1 T Coconut Oil– unrefined, organic is best 4-5 drops of Oregano Oil If it is cold, gently heat the coconut oil until it is in a liquid state before mixing in the essential oil. Oregano Oil is a pretty potent oil, so if you are using this on a child or someone with sensitive skin you may have to play around with the amount to ensure there is no burning of the skin. But I was able to safely remove warts on the face without any issues and sensitivities. Using a cotton swap, apply the diluted oil directly to the wart once or twice a day until the warts are gone. You should see changes and signs that the warts are dying pretty quickly. If the skin bleeds or cracks as they fall off, apply carefully or skip applying until the skin has healed a bit. This remedy will completely remove all warts in about a month! Maintaining a fresh, germ-free and clean toilet is highly important for the well-being of your whole family, but at least it is going to get easier for you after we show you this useful trick. Instead of throwing your money at expensive cleaning agents packed with harsh chemicals, you can prepare a homemade toilet cleaner that will neutralize all odors, eliminate bacteria and make your toilet smell fresh! Ingredients you will need: • 60 ml. of Lemon juice • 160 g. of Baking soda • 1/2 Tbsp Vinegar • 1 Tbsp Hydrogen peroxide (3 %, from the pharmacy) • 15-20 drops of Fragrant oil Instructions: Start off by mixing the baking soda and the lemon juice in a small bowl. In a separate bowl mix the vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and add this mixture in the baking soda and lemon mixture, one drop at a time. Once done, add a fragrant oil of your choice to give it a refreshing smell. Take a spoon and make a few half-ball shapes and place them on some parchment paper to dry. They will take a minimum of 4 hours to dry, but feel free to leave them to dry overnight. Once they’re dry completely, store them in air-tight glass jar near your toilet. Every time you notice that your toilet bowl is in a need of cleaning, drop a tab. Do this 2-3 times a week. Not only does nail polish chip faster, but it's also super painful when you reach for something and your nails actually bend. It affects upto 20 percent of the population Some health conditions can result in peeling of both fingernails and toenails, but if only your fingernails are affected, the cause is likely to be external. Nails are made up of several layers, and the nail plate is made of keratin, which is a protein. When nails become thin and brittle, they can peel. While in rare cases, peeling nails can be a sign of a more serious medical condition, it's usually one of the much simpler reasons ahead. 1 You're Iron Deficient (anemia) The most common reason your nails might be peeling is an iron deficiency. If you tend to skip the green vegetables and meat, it's time to load up on foods high in the mineral like spinach, lean beef, chicken, and beans. 2 You Use Your Nails as Tools Injuries to the nail can cause them to split and peel. We know it's tempting, but resist the urge to peel that sticker off the bottle with your nails. "If you use your nails often as a tool, you may begin to see peeling. Instead, use another object to scrape things off. 3 You Wear Acrylics Applying false or acrylic nails can weaken the nail and cause peeling. keep your nails polished to give them more protection but skip false nails. 4 You Don't Wear Gloves While Washing Dishes Repeatedly wetting and drying your hands, and, by extension, your fingernails, can cause the nails to dry out. Too much moisture can also weaken the nails, softening them and causing them to peel. "Minimise the amount of time you have your hands in water, and use gloves to wash dishes and to perform other duties where you will have to wash your hands often," 8 Your nails are weaker when they're wet, and preventing them from spending extended periods in water will make them stronger. 5 Nail biting Nail biting leaves fingernails ragged and prone to additional damage. Break this habit and try Keeping your nails trimmed short and filing them with an emery board into a rounded shape can prevent the splitting and peeling from getting worse. 6 Chemicals, including household cleansers, can dry out fingernails. The effects of chemicals can be remedied by limiting exposure and moisturizing the nails after contact. Applying a coat of clear nail polish once a week may also prevent damage 7 hypothyroidism splitting nails may be caused by hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland is underactive and doesn't produce enough hormones. Other symptoms of hypothyroidism include weakness, fatigue, unintentional weight gain, joint pain and heavy menstrual periods. Serreze is a Professor of Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU), a fellow of the CU Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), and Director of the CIRES National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC). He specializes in Arctic climate research. He has conducted fieldwork in the Canadian and Alaskan Arctic on tundra, sea ice and glaciers. Serreze has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and is recognized as a Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher. In 2014, he was elected Fellow of the American Meteorological Society. In 2017 he was awarded the title of Professor of Distinction at CU for his contributions to research, teaching and service. He has published an award-winning textbook, “The Arctic Climate System” (now in its second edition), and teaches a course in the CU Department of Geography under the same title. His popular science book, “Brave New Arctic: The Untold Story of the Melting North” was published in spring 2018. Serreze has testified before the U.S. Congress, is a frequent media contact on issues of climate and climate change, and has appeared in television documentaries.
