How to Remove a Splinter With Baking Soda Natural Health Remedies
How to Remove a Splinter With Baking Soda Splinters are foreign bodies that are partially or fully embedded in the skin. Splinters usually are wood, but metal, glass, and plastic materials may be considered splinters. Splinters are full of germs. If splinters are not removed (or don't work their way out themselves), they may cause an infection. Home remedies include - Using a pair of tweezers, grab the protruding end of the splinter and pull it out along the direction it entered. Wash the area with soap and water. At times, splinters may be fully embedded in the skin. Use a small needle sterilized in boiling water. Clean the skin with an antiseptic and Use the needle to gently and partially dislodge the splinter, which may then be removed fully with tweezers. However sometimes There is an easier way to remove those tiny, pesky splinters than trying to dig around with a tweezer. baking soda helps swell the skin and draw the splinter to the surface. Simply make a paste of baking soda and water, apply to the area, and cover with a bandage. After about 24 hours, the splinter should be sticking out enough that you can pull it out with tweezers. If not, repeat the process. Here is the exact method to use 1 Make a paste with baking soda and water. In a small cup or other container, add a generous amount of baking soda. Then, add in water in small increments and mix until you form a thick paste. There is no precise ratio of baking soda to water. You just need to add enough that you end up with a paste. 2 Apply your paste to the splinter. Use your fingers or a paper towel to gently dab the paste over your splinter. Add a light layer of paste to the splinter and the surrounding skin. Be careful not to push the splinter in deeper when applying the paste. 3 Cover the spot with a Band-Aid. Place a Band-Aid over the paste. Make sure to cover the splinter completely with the cotton portion of the Band-Aid. The type of Band-Aid does not matter as long as it fits over the splinter.[7] 4 Remove the Band-Aid after a few hours. Wait anywhere from an hour to a day to remove the Band-Aid. Splinters that are stuck in deep will generally require more time. When you remove the bandaid, the splinter should come out easily.[8] • If the splinter does not come out by itself as you pull off the band aid, try gently squeezing it with tweezers (sterilize tweezers with alcohol before using). • If the splinter does not come out the first time, or is still very deep, try repeating the process and leaving the bandaid on longer, up to 24 hours.[9] • Rinse the area with soap and water and apply antibiotic ointment after the splinter comes out. • You may also cover the area with a bandaid after the splinter has been removed to help with the healing process. If a splinter appears to be too deep to attempt removal at home, then see your doctor or may have to carry out minor surgery to get it out especially if its underneath a nail. Pour Vinegar into Toilet Tank/ Cistern and The Results Will Amaze You Are you tired of using harsh, toxic chemicals when you clean? Do you have to be careful when you clean the bathroom with bleach? What if I told you that you could cut down on the number of times you had to clean that nasty toilet? And, what if I told you that you could still get the bowl sparkling clean and free from bacteria? You don’t have to worry about bleach spots or toxic chemical smells. All this can be achieved with one household product that’s been used in cleaning for centuries — vinegar. Using white vinegar once for a thorough cleaning and following up with consistent use of the same product in the tank, could significantly cut down on the time you spend cleaning. It can eliminate some of the worries you might have with using bleach and other harsh industrial chemicals. And, yes, it does kill bacteria. Studies have proven that the acid in vinegar kills bacteria, by breaking down the outer membrane and releasing protons that cause the cell’s death. White vinegar is safe for the environment too. All you need is one liter of white vinegar, an empty spray bottle, and a few other common cleaning items. To get started, pour half of the liter of white vinegar in the toilet tank or cistern. Next, fill up the empty spray bottle with some vinegar. Start the cleaning process by cleaning the outside of the toilet with the vinegar in the spray bottle. Next, take some toilet paper and wet it with the vinegar. Was the toilet paper into small balls and place them under the rim of the toilet. Leave them there for a few minutes. Now, pour some of the vinegar into the bowl and scrub it with a toilet brush. Scrub the underside of the rim with the toilet brush. Make sure that you scrub the places where you placed wadded up balls of toilet paper. Finally, flush the toilet. The initial cleaning is done. If you add vinegar to the tank every few days, it will keep it cleaner longer. Try it out, and take the bleach out of your bathroom without sacrificing any cleanliness. Lets take a look at the common causes 1 Overexertion Strain or overuse of a muscle can cause twitches. When a person exercises vigorously or for a long period, they may experience muscle twitching. Research suggests this muscle twitching may happen after exercise for two reasons: Firstly, exercise can lead to muscle fatigue. Muscle fatigue triggers twitching and cramping in overworked muscle fibers. Secondly, exercise may cause an electrolyte imbalance through sweating. Electrolytes play a role in muscle contraction. An electrolyte loss within muscle fibers may trigger twitching. The arms and legs are common places to experience muscle twitching that overexertion causes. The most worked muscles are most likely to twitch, which can include the calf, thigh, or biceps, depending on the exercise. 2 Not getting enough sleep Brain chemicals, or neurotransmitters, play a role in transmitting information from the brain to the nerves that control muscle contraction. Sleep deprivation may affect how neurotransmitter receptors work. This means excess neurotransmitters may build up in the brain. The impact that a lack of sleep has on neurotransmitters function may lead to muscle twitching. A common place to experience muscle twitching from tiredness is in the eyelid. 3 Caffeine Drinking too much coffee, tea, or energy drinks that contain caffeine may cause muscle twitching. Caffeine is a stimulant. When a person has too much of it, caffeine can stimulate muscle twitching anywhere in the body. 4 Calcium deficiency The body needs calcium to support proper muscle function. Having a calcium deficiency may cause muscle twitching. People can get calcium from dairy products, soya beans, tofu, nuts, and leafy greens. 5 Magnesium deficiency Magnesium also plays a role in keeping the nerves and muscles healthy. Magnesium helps to transport calcium across cell membranes to support nerve and muscle function. Having a magnesium deficiency may cause muscle twitching anywhere in the body, including the face. You can stuff them into any crack or area that mice can potentially get into your home: floor cracks, holes in the attic, you name it. The stronger the dryer sheet scent, the better, as mice are not fans of the pleasant-smelling product. 5. Cloves Mice don’t like cloves, though leaving them around the house will be nice for you as a natural homeopathic scent — almost like inhaling an essential oil. You can place a bunch of cloves inside pantyhose or a strainer cloth, and put them in any areas where mice can potentially appear. 6. Peppermint First of all, get yourself some 100 percent pure peppermint oil and put at least five drops on a cotton ball. Then, place them in all areas where mice would be likely to get into your house. Refresh the cotton balls every two to four weeks — you want to make sure they’re pungent enough to deter the mice. You can also mix peppermint oil with water and spray it in any areas you think mice can get inside. 7. Ammonia Mice hate strong smells, and ammonia is among them. Put some into small bowls and leave them in areas where mice may enter your house. However, ammonia is not the most pleasant-smelling or healthy chemical for humans and pets, so I would try other remedies first. Why does skin blister | how to treat skin blisters About blisters Blisters are small pockets of fluid that usually form in the upper layers of skin after it's been damaged. Blisters can develop anywhere on the body but are most common on the hands and feet. Fluid collects under the damaged skin, cushioning the tissue underneath. This protects the tissue from further damage and allows it to heal. Most blisters are filled with a clear fluid but may be filled with blood or pus if they become inflamed or infected. What causes blisters? Blisters can be caused by: • friction to the skin • heat – for example, from sunburn or a scald • contact with chemicals, such as detergent • medical conditions, such as chickenpox Treating blisters Most blisters heal naturally after three to seven days and don't require medical attention. It's important to avoid bursting the blister, because this could lead to an infection or slow down the healing process. If the blister does burst, don't peel off the dead skin. Instead, allow the fluid inside the blister to drain and cover the area with a dry, sterile dressing to protect it from infection until it heals. When to see your DOCTOR See your DOCTOR if you have blisters that: • you think are infected • are very painful • keep coming back An infected blister will be filled with yellow or green pus and may be painful, red and hot. It's important not to ignore an infected blister because it could lead to secondary a contagious bacterial infection of the skin and further complications, such as cellulitis or sepsis. You should also talk to your doctor if you have blisters in unusual places, such as on your eyelids or inside your mouth, or if they appear after severe sunburn, burns or scalds or an allergic reaction, or after coming into contact with chemicals or other substances. Preventing blisters There are a number of things you can do to avoid getting blisters caused by friction, sunburn or chemicals. For example, you can: • wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes • help keep your feet dry with thicker socks or talcum powder • wear gloves when handling chemicals • use sunscreen How you can treat a blister yourself To relieve any pain, use an ice pack (or a bag of frozen vegetables wrapped in a towel) on the blister for up to 30 minutes.
