IN this video I’m going to show you 7 Morning Habits That Can Cause Weight Gain In the morning, everyone has a ritual. Whether it’s hitting the snooze button five times, stretching for a few minutes before starting your day or taking a 30-minute shower. Our morning habits almost become second nature. But have you ever thought that what starts your day off may also start a trend of weight gain? The following morning habits could be the cause of your unwanted weight gain. No 1 Skipping Breakfast: It’s true what they say Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, it could become a gateway to unhealthy eating during the day. A balanced breakfast will set the tone for the rest of the day, and it also helps with hunger concentration and improved eating habits. The perfect breakfast will have fiber and protein, which will help prevent caffeine cravings and “mid-morning munchies.” No 2 You Get Changed in The Dark: According to a study, if you keep your blinds closed when you wake up in the morning, you’re missing out weight-loss benefits provided by the sun. The study suggests that people who get sun immediately after they wake up have a lower Body Mass Index (BMI for short) than those who do not. The study adds that between 20-30 minutes of daylight is more than enough to affect an individual’s BMI. No 3 Skipping the Weigh-In: There is a love-hate relationship when it comes to stepping on the scales. Because of this 50/50 relationship, it makes it easy to ignore stepping on it when we get out of the shower in the morning. However, a one-year study that is published in the International Journal of Obesity states that the longer women waited between weigh-ins, the more weight they put on. Researchers of the study believe that women who never skipped their weigh-in were more prone to having healthier eating habits. No 4 Too Much Coffee, Not Enough Water: Having too much coffee in the morning and not balancing it with water can have serious consequences for your waistline. Your body needs water because it jumpstarts your metabolism, provides your brain with fuel and helps the body flush out toxins. The body needs water in the morning because it is playing ‘catch up’ to break down all the extract nutrients after sleeping all night. No 5 Hitting the Snooze Button: Oversleeping is usually associated with poor diet and weight gain. Having low amounts of sleep can affect a person’s concentration which makes them more likely to eat junk food. Sleeping for too long can have the same effect because the body is unable to sync to the proper time. This can lead to issues such as blood sugar fluctuations and higher body weight. NO 6 You Don’t Make Your Bed: When you wake up in the morning, you tend to neglect the little things like making your bed. But you might want to rethink that if you care about your waistline. A National Sleep Foundation survey was conducted and found that those who make their bed were 19% more likely to report getting proper rest compared to those who did not make their bed. Because a good night’s sleep is associated with a lower BMI, why wouldn’t you want to pick up this positive habit? Also, people who make their bed on a regular basis tend to have better willpower, which can transition into keeping their calories in check. No 7. YOU SKIP ON THE MORNING EXERCISE. Whether it’s yoga or a quick jog, try to incorporate exercise in your morning routine. I know, it’s difficult. You might still be feeling tired or sleepy, but the positive effects of incorporating exercise into your weight loss routine are numerous. Exercising is a great way to wake up and increase your metabolism, and it also decreases your appetite. Normally, you’d eat to wake up, but if you exchange your calorie-filled breakfast for a 15-minute yoga session or a quick jog, you’ll feel much more inclined to eat a healthy breakfast afterward. Seyfried is Professor of Biology at Boston College, and received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana, in 1976. He did his undergraduate work at the University of New England where he recently received the distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. He also holds a Master’s degree in Genetics from Illinois State University, Normal, IL. Thomas Seyfried served with distinction in the United States Army’s First Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War, and received numerous medals and commendations. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurology at the Yale University School of Medicine, and then served on the faculty as an Assistant Professor in Neurology. Other awards and honors have come from such diverse organizations as the American Oil Chemists Society, the National Institutes of Health, The American Society for Neurochemistry, and the Ketogenic Diet Special Interest Group of the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Seyfried previously served as Chair, Scientific Advisory Committee for the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association. He recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Complimentary and Integrative Medicine, and the Uncompromising Science Award from the American College of Nutrition for his work on cancer for his work on cancer. He presently serves on several editorial boards, including those for Nutrition & Metabolism, Neurochemical Research, the Journal of Lipid Research, and ASN Neuro. At certain times of the year, bugs get really annoying. But come rain or shine, they are always around. Even though they may look harmless, insects can be responsible for many diseases, and even epidemics. Dengue, zika, and chikungunya are some of the diseases that can be transmitted by insects. If you want to avoid them and keep your family safe, try making this homemade insecticide to help you. We know that there are many different ways of ending bugs, and they are all easy and accessible. And you don't need to buy insecticides or chemical products to avoid bugs, as you will see with this recipe I will share with you. Find out how to keep spiders, cockroaches, ants, flies, and mosquitoes away from your house for good: 1 plastic bottle (500 ml); 1 spray cap; 5 tablespoons of liquid detergent; A little bit of eucalyptus oil (use the bottle lid as a measure); Directions Fill half of the plastic bottle with water and add the detergent and eucalyptus oil. Fill the rest of the bottle with water. The mixture will change colors. Put a spray cap on the bottle. It will help you get rid of the insects in your home, and will make everything smell good while doing it. When you notice the insecticide is almost gone, refill the bottle with water and keep using. After you refill once, use up all the mixture and make a new one after. You can also do these other tricks to keep insects away from you: Incenses and candles made from plants and essential oils can be useful against bugs because of the smoke and their strong smell. Lemongrass, lemon, lavender and citric fruits are smells that keep insects like flies and mosquitoes away. You can also make an orange candle, which we already showed you how to make.
