If you have a wasp problem, you are no doubt be wondering how to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Chemical wasp control is something you probably don’t want to resort to, due to the negative impact it can have on the environment, your pets, your children and you. In this video, we’ll be sharing some interesting information about these common insect pests that may very well help you learn to live with them. We’ll also provide some smart tips for natural wasp repellent and removal. Let’s get started! At the outset, you should determine what type of wasp you are dealing with. Different wasps and hornet’s species display different behavioural characteristics. Some are more dangerous to deal with than others and some are more beneficial than others. Understanding your “enemy” is key, and you may discover your particular species of wasps are not enemies at all. Hornets, paper wasps, red wasps and bald-faced hornets are the most aggressive of wasps, and you’re best hiring a professional to remove them. Larger wasps that don’t tend to bother with humans, and are incredibly beneficial to the environment. Mud daubers are also beneficial to have around, and are non-aggressive, so you shouldn’t get rid of their nests. Bees aren’t the same as wasps, though they look similar. They die after one sting, which gives them motivation not to sting. For this reason, you shouldn’t experience much trouble with bees unless you go out of your way to provoke them. Also in some countries bee’s are protected so your better off contacting a local beekeeper. Social wasps live in nests, and sometimes this puts them in very inconvenient places. If you have a wasp infestation in a location that you can’t avoid, or if the wasp colony is an aggressive type in your vicinity, you will need to get rid of it. A small wasp nest is relatively easy to deal with in several ways. These nests are usually out in the open and relatively small. If you catch it when the nest is tiny and only has a few wasps on it, you can either knock it down with a broom during the day when the wasps are all out, relocate it, or spray it at night when the wasps are at home. If you wish to relocate a nest you will need to do it after dark when the wasps are sleeping. Gather a plastic container with a lid, such as a small yogurt container. You’ll also need a stiff piece of cardboard or plastic large enough to cover the container. After dark, carefully approach the nest and place the container over it. Slide the plastic or cardboard between the top of the container and the surface, which will sever the thin stem holding the nest in place. Hold the cardboard or plastic in place and set the lid on top of it. Slide the cardboard or plastic out and put on the lid. Then carry the container far away to an area with a likely nesting place. Set it on the ground, remove the lid and move away quickly. The wasps are likely to still be sleeping, but you never know! If you wish to spray the wasp nest with a natural spray, then mix up a half and half combination of white vinegar and water. Add peppermint essential oil at a rate of 20 drops per ounce. Then add dish soap. Decant this mixture into a spray bottle that can deliver a fairly powerful spray stream. After dark, when the wasps are sleeping, spray the wasp nests liberally. This will kill them and also leave the scent of peppermint, which repels them. After they’ve dropped off the nest, knock it down and spray the area around the nest to help keep them away. You should spray daily for about a week to maintain the peppermint scent strong. For small nests, put the mixture into a hose-end sprayer and spray the nest completely. Trapping wasps is a good way to keep their numbers under control. You won’t get rid of all of them, but you can reduce their numbers so they will bother you less or so you can deal with them easily by removing their nests. Here are a couple of good ideas for creating wasp traps. No 1 Soda Bottle Wasp Trap Cut the top third off a 2-litre soda bottle. Remove the lid, and invert the top into the bottom of the bottle. Secure it in place with duct tape and pour in about an inch of liquid bait. For the bait, you can use beer or a 50/50 mixture of beer and water. Many people find this works very well. Alternately, you can make a sugar water and apple cider vinegar mixture to attract wasps. Just mix the vinegar and water 50/50 and then add sugar at half that rate. Next, mix in dish soap at a rate of one teaspoonful per cup of solution. After allowing the sugar to dissolve, you can use the mixture as bait. No 2 Glass Or Plastic Jar Wasp Trap Using a good sized jar, like a pickle jar or a peanut butter jar, drill a hole in the lid just big enough to poke a pencil through. This should be just about the right size for wasps to slip in. Pour about an inch of liquid bait in the bottom of the jar and spread the inside of the lid with jelly. Put the lid on the jar.

Put a coat on your eyelashes before you go to bed. Vaseline is a moisturizer that can be used effectively on dry skin and eyelashes. It can't make eyelashes grow faster or longer, but it can moisturize them, making them look fuller and lusher. You’ll find that it’s best used at night, when you're not planning on applying makeup, such as mascara, to your eyelashes. 34. Coat your feet at night Most women don't really think about their feet until the first signs of summer begin. Only then do they take a close look at their feet, toes and toenails and realize that some serious TLC is in order. The truth is, feet need care all year-round in order to be healthy as well as soft and attractive. The solution is simple: at bedtime, apply a generous amount of petroleum jelly to the feet, heel and toe area, and cover your feet with cotton socks. By morning, your feet should feel soft and supple. 35. Put on your elbows every day The extremes in temperature can do all sorts of funny things to our skin. Be it icy cold climates come wintertime, or heatwaves in the summer, the skin on our face and body can become very dry. An area that is especially perceptive to these changes is the elbows, which are already some of the driest on our bodies. Apply Vaseline to your problem spots before bed for a deep conditioning overnight cosmetic treatment. Moisturizers like Vaseline act as a barrier on the skin and seal in moisture to help rehydrate your skin and accelerate the skin's natural renewal process overnight. 36. Remove old eyelashes It's important to remove your false lashes correctly to prevent damage to your real ones. Use a cotton bud to dip into your Vaseline pot and then swab it onto the false eyelashes. Wait for the glue to soften, then use warm water to rinse it off. You shouldn’t feel any pain, and all your real eyelashes will remain intact. 37. Put on your cuticles several times a day Just like skin, cuticles and nails are made of the same protein. When our skin loses moisture, it becomes dry and cracked, and the same goes for your cuticles and nails. In the winter months your cuticles may be extra dry because your hands are subjected to less moisture in the air and colder temperatures. Frequently washing your hands or drinking less water can also reduce the moisture in your skin. After moisturising your hands, you can add further protection for your cuticles by rubbing a small amount straight onto the nailbed and fingernails before going to sleep. You can maximize your hand care therapy by wearing a pair of gloves. You’ll have softer hands and shinier fingernails when you wake up in the morning. 38. Use on chapped lips The secret to dealing with dry, sore, chapped lips is to find a way to lock in moisture and protect the lips from the cold, dry air. Vaseline is an excellent choice as it forms a protective layer on the lips and penetrates deep down to rehydrate the skin and speed up its natural renewal process. As an added bonus, when you use Vaseline as a lip gloss, it really makes your lips look fuller and more luscious, along with giving it a pleasant shine. 39. Make a coloured and flavoured lip gloss There are a whole host of Vaseline lip gloss recipes on the internet, some of which both colour your lips and provide a pleasant flavour. One option is to warm the Vaseline in the microwave, then mix three teaspoons of Vaseline with a teaspoon of honey. Stir until combined, then add to a jar and let it cool before using. Another recipe involves melting Vaseline and one chocolate chip in the microwave, mixing the two and letting them solidify for chocolate lip gloss. You can also stir cocoa powder into your Vaseline for a simpler solution. 40. Maintain perfume scent longer If you need some extra life out of your fragrance, rub a small amount of Vaseline onto your pulse points before application. The balm will act as an additional moisturizing lock for the scent, helping it last even longer. 41. Moisturizer for acne sufferers According to research, petroleum jelly is one of the most effective moisturizers on the market. It works by sitting on top of the skin, where it forms a barrier and prevents water from leaving your skin. Vaseline can be used as an everyday moisturizer for acne-prone skin. A lot of people think that Vaseline clogs your pores, but this is false. It doesn’t clog pores, but instead fills the gaps in lipid barriers, which helps to produce glowing, beautifully even skin. 42. Moisturizer for dry skin Dry skin can flake, itch, crack and even bleed. Since ointments are more effective and less irritating than lotions, consider applying petroleum jelly to dry skin, including your lips. One of the best times to use Vaseline is after you’ve showered.

Vaseline: it’s that little clear tub that your mother always kept in the medicine cabinet when you were growing up. You probably weren’t sure what it was for. Maybe your mum rubbed it on your chest for some reason whenever you were sick. It might surprise you to know that men and women use Vaseline for their everyday beauty routine. Not only that, but Vaseline can be used all around the home to remove stains, protect valuables, stop squeaks, and much more. There are so many amazing things you can use Vaseline petroleum jelly for, and you probably didn’t know half of them. We’ll be covering them all in this video. Let’s start with general uses of Vaseline around the home: 1. Clear Wax From Candlesticks Last night’s candlelit dinner was a beautiful sight until you saw the candle wax drippings left in the candleholders. Luckily, fixing this issue is one of Vaseline’s many uses. Next time, apply petroleum jelly to the insides of the holders before you put the candles in. The wax will pop out for easy cleaning. 2. Lift Lipstick Stains You set the table at that lovely dinner party with your favourite cloth napkins, but your friends left their mark all over them. Now dotted with lipstick stains, those napkins may be headed for the rubbish bin. But try this first. Before you wash them, blot petroleum jelly on the stain. Launder as usual and hopefully the stain will lift. 3. Remove Chewing Gum from Wood If you ever discover bubble gum stuck under the dining room table or behind the headboard of your son’s bed, keep Vaseline in mind. Squeeze some petroleum jelly on the offending wad, rub it in until the gum starts to disintegrate, then remove. 4. Clean Watermarks from Wood Watermark rings on your wood furniture are unsightly – so easy to make, but so difficult to remove... or so you thought. To make them disappear, apply petroleum jelly and let it sit overnight. In the morning, wipe the watermark away with the jelly. 5. Shine Patent-Leather Goods You’ve got a great pair of patent-leather shoes or bag, but you’re not sure how to keep them looking their best. Here’s a tip: the lustre stays longer if you polish the items with petroleum jelly. The Vaseline will soften the leather and help prevent it from cracking. This will work on leather and patent leather shoes, bags, and other items, but shouldn't be used for rawhide leather. Be sure to use a clean, lint-free cloth to apply it. 6. Make Leather Jackets Look New Again You don’t need fancy leather moisturizer to take care of your favourite leather jacket. Petroleum jelly does the job just as well. Apply, rub it in, wipe off the excess, and you’re ready to go. 7. Stop Battery Terminal Corrosion It’s no coincidence that your car battery always dies on the coldest winter day. Low temperatures increase electrical resistance and thicken engine oil, making the battery work harder. Corrosion on the battery terminals also increases resistance and might just be the last straw that makes the battery give up. Before winter starts, disconnect the terminals and clean them with a wire brush. Reconnect, then smear with petroleum jelly. The jelly will prevent corrosion and help keep the battery cranking all winter long. 8. Keep Ants Away from Pet Food Bowls You can use Vaseline to ward off ants, bugs, and other pesky pests. A thin layer spread on windowsills and door thresholds will trap crawling insects, keeping them away from your family and pets. You can ring pet’s food bowl with petroleum jelly to keep them at bay. The ants will no longer be tempted by the kibble if they have to cross that mountain of petroleum jelly. 9. Grease a Baseball Mitt If you’ve a new baseball mitt that’s too stiff, you can soften it up with petroleum jelly. The same stuff can also be used to keep your glove in good condition after years of use. Apply liberal amounts of Vaseline to every part of the glove using a cloth or rag. Leather acts like human skin, and the Vaseline can help protect the leather from weather, dirt and moisture. Work the Vaseline into every part of the glove and wipe off excess with the rag. 10. Mask Doorknobs While Painting You’re about to undertake painting the family room. But do you really want to fiddle with removing all the metal fixtures, including doorknobs? Petroleum jelly rubbed on the metal will prevent paint from sticking. When you’re done painting, just wipe off the jelly and the unwanted paint is gone.

Because your morning routine can have a ripple effect on the rest of your day, it’s important to find a system that feels natural for you and makes you feel good. For those of us who don’t follow a morning routine, mornings can be stressful to say the least. If you’re prone to starting off your day in a gloomy and anxious state, then you’ll be sure to benefit from the 27 suggestions in this video. 1. Wake up on Time Waking up on time is one of the simplest ways to start your day positively. It will give you space and time to complete your morning routines. And you won’t need to worry about rushing around your home. 2. Open Your Curtains One of the first things you should do upon rising is to open your bedroom curtains. This simple habit offers a fantastic way to help you gradually wake up from your slumber. It may work well for you to open curtains, and then sit on the end of your bed for a few minutes. This enables you to enjoy the morning light streaming through your window. 3. Make Your Bed Making your bed is most probably the last thing you think about when you’re stumbling about in the morning. If you want to accelerate your motivation and productivity, you should definitely get into the habit of making your bed. It takes less than a minute, and you’ll be rewarded by a tidy room, and a feeling of self-satisfaction. 4. Enjoy a Refreshing Shower It’s amazing that some people feel they don’t have time to shower in the morning. Not only does that sound unhygienic, but it also suggests that these people haven’t learned to set a daily morning routine. A shower only takes 10 minutes or so, and it’s a great way to clean your body, and the perfect way to wake up. 5. Drink a Freshly Blended Smoothie Every morning, make time to enjoy a freshly blended smoothie, containing your favourite ingredients, like organic milk and a small portion of fruit such as bananas, mangoes and strawberries. It’s a superb way to kick-start your day. Not only does it taste great, but it’s also full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. If you’re not a smoothie fan, a cup of herbal tea in the morning will also be beneficial. 6. Take a 10-Minute Walk in the Morning Sunshine If you have a dog, then having a quick before-work walk will be an easy task for you. But it’s a habit worth adopting even if you don’t have a furry friend in your life. If you’re lucky enough to live close to a park, then you could walk around the park before going to work. Fresh air and exercise are an invigorating combination. 7. Check Your To-Do List Organized people tend to have to-do lists. It helps them keep track of what needs doing at home, work and beyond. To-do lists can be paper-based, or you can use one of the many free apps that are available. The morning is perfect for checking your to-do list, and prioritizing items for the day. You may also find that you can tick off some items that you completed the previous day, which will set you off to a great start. 8. Listen to Some Upbeat Music Music is a powerful mood changer. If you’re not a typical morning person, then you can help to boost your physical and emotional state by listening to upbeat music. Simply choose music that makes you feel happy and lively. You could listen to this music while you shower, when you’re in your kitchen, or perhaps when you’re commuting to work. 9. Complete a Mini Workout If you have a home gym, then you’ll really benefit from spending a few minutes each morning working out. This will rapidly wake you up, and increase your mental well-being. If you don’t have a home gym, you can still do a mini workout. Try doing sets of push-ups and sit-ups, or check out some of the 30-day fitness apps on your phone – most of them are free! 10. Review Your Goals Early morning can be an excellent time for contemplation. While you may want to think about trivial things, successful people often use this time to review their personal goals. You can do the same. For instance, if one of your goals is to start your own business, then use the morning time to come up with ideas to help move you towards that goal. It’ll give you a bigger purpose to get up and start the day. 11. Pack Some Healthy Snacks to Take to Work You may have started the day with a healthy breakfast, but it’s incredibly easy for your diet to go downhill from there! If you’re the sort to go for coffee, cakes, biscuits and chocolate, you can avoid buying the bad stuff with a bit of preparation. The trick is to pack some healthy snacks like apples, bananas and nuts in your car or work bag. These healthy treats will happily keep you going until lunchtime.

4 Tips For A Naturally Clean Home

Looking for a cost-effective, safe way to keep your home clean, naturally? Ditch the overpriced, artificially scented cleaners and try these four common household items:

  1. Olive oil: Use it to lubricate and polish wood furniture. Simply mix three parts olive oil to one part vinegar, or two parts olive oil to one part lemon juice to add a refreshing and clean aroma.
  2. Potatoes: Halved potatoes can remove rust from baking pans or tinware – dip the potato in salt before scrubbing or follow with a salt scrub.
  3. White vinegar: There are plenty of uses for this household mainstay: It cleans linoleum floors and glass (from windows and mirrors to shower doors) when mixed with water and a little liquid soap (castile or vegetable); cuts grease, removes stains and soap scum, and cleans toilets – you may add a bit of baking soda if you like. It can also be used as an antibacterial and deodorizer – pour undiluted vinegar down drains once a week, or add to water in a spray bottle to kill mold and mildew.
  4. Bonus Product: Tea tree oil. A useful alternative to chemical products, add 50 drops of this essential oil (found at health food stores) to a bucket of water to clean countertops and tile floors, and add it directly to vinegar/water solutions for its antibacterial properties, which are useful for killing mold and mildew in kitchens and bathrooms.
